KW Marketing Excerpts

We all know about the funnel approach to marketing, but even more important for me was the wheel approach, truly the filter I made every single decision through.

Each product should have a purpose. Some are for viral marketing, some are to create best-sellers, some are to identify particular niches in your audience, some are to appeal to the high end user, some are to get as many people involved as possible, some are for branding purposes, some for collaboration, etc and so on. Know what you need next and why you need it and then how best to package and market it.

I use to hope that delegating would free me up. Eventually I learned that training, mentoring and accountability allowed me to create better long lasting systems, to where eventually almost everything was being delegated to and through my top three leaders.

Rule one of online marketing - web guys and IT guys are NOT marketing guys. Hard lesson I see every day for so many companies!

The Passing of a Legend!

December 7th, 2009

With great sadness we share that Jim Rohn, our mentor and friend, left us today for a better place.

Over the past 18 months, Jim in his battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, assured us with a smile that all is good, that he would fight till the last breath, yet he had no fear as to what would be next. Jim’s faith was as much a part of his life as his desire to inspire and challenge us all to be the best we could be and to live our dreams.

Jim’s courage in his final months and days were a testament to his message that we should all fight the good fight. He never gave up and never gave in.

Jim Rohn touched millions of lives over the past 46 years through his seminars, books, articles and CD’s. He always stayed long after an event to shake hands, take pictures and sign autographs. He loved making a difference in people’s lives, that was his passion and inspiration. Yet he was also a private man who kept a small, loyal and caring inner circle. He was a tremendous friend to those who knew him.

Kyle Wilson, long time colleague and friend of Jim had this to say about his mentor, “Jim Rohn was a great human being. Jim had the rare ability to take any concept or idea and then frame it in such a way that the rest of us could see it more clearly. His wisdom and insights positively affected everyone he touched on some level and to so many of us it was in an extraordinary way. But even more impressive was Jim Rohn the man. He possessed style and charisma, yet was humble, kind and understated to all who knew him. I find myself ever day reflecting, benefiting and passing on the wisdom and ideas that are rooted in Jim’s message and wisdom. Jim is irreplaceable on every level. I will miss him beyond words, but am comforted as I know he was, that his message and legacy will live on and positively change millions of lives over the years to come!”

Someone once said “when you are born you enter the world crying while everyone else is rejoicing and when you die hopefully you have lived such a life that everyone will be crying while you are rejoicing.” Jim Rohn lived such a life.

Harold Dyke, long time close friend of Jim’s for over 55 years said it best when he said “As Jim is ending one life he is simultaneously being birthed into a new life. One that he has talked about over the years and anticipated with great joy in his last remaining days.”

Jim’s family has ask us to thank all of you for your concern, prayers and love toward their father and grandfather, which has been so evident during the past 18 months.

There will be a private funeral held in the coming days. Plans and details are being arranged also for a Public Memorial Service to be held in the LA area in the coming weeks. Details to come as soon as they are finalized.

We know Mr. Rohn is looking down on us at this very moment with a smile saying I did it, I gave it my all, I went for it, now it’s your turn. Go for it. Make your life a life worth living well!

Jim Rohn Tribute page

There has been set-up a special Jim Rohn Tribute page (includes videos, bio info, Jim Rohn Tribute video) plus a place to post your own tribute or special words related to Jim and his impact in your life. These will be made into a book and giving to Jim’s family at a later time. http://tribute.jimrohn.com

Succeeding in Tough Times by Kyle Wilson

October 3rd, 2009

I’ve been noticing (and I’m sure you have to), while many companies and individuals might be struggling right now, that there is also a group of companies and individuals flourishing. I’ve also noticed there are some common characteristics found in these companies and individuals who seem to be doing well during some of these uncertain times. Here are five characteristics that stand out:

1) These companies and individuals operate from a win/win philosophy and inherently value their business relationships (customers, employees and vendors). When you understand and appreciate this principle it allows you to create and receive value both on a short and long-term basis, as well as recognize and be in line for new opportunities that begin to present themselves.

2) These companies and individuals have an entrepreneurial mindset. Although, it’s true that when a boom is going on the entrepreneur is often leading the way, I’ve also noticed that when the water is high (things are going good), everything tends to even out (everyone seems to be doing well). But when it all starts to go south, it is then that entrepreneurs can rise more quickly and distinguish themselves. Their ability to take risks, be decisive, recognize and seize opportunity and to basically “create”, allows them to find a way to make things happen.

3) These companies and individuals have an excellent work ethic and focus. In sports, if you were to ask, who in their respective sport has been a dominant figure, three immediately come to my mind - Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretsky. Beyond their remarkable ability and talent, there is also something about these three that help propel them into greatness - their fierce competitiveness and their incredible work ethic. How do you beat the most talented person in the world when they will also out work you and have a “will to win” that is not to be exceeded? Well, the same is true in business. The top performers do not get complacent. They do not rest on their laurels. And they don’t decide that because they are doing well or are on top that that is good enough. Their work ethic and drive to be their personal best has allowed previous victories and momentum to carry over into more success (even in difficult times).

4) These companies and individuals have made a commitment to succeed. Making a decision is the prerequisite to all successes. As Jim says, all good things are upstream, but the natural tendency is downstream. Commitment creates the mindset that allows us to face challenges, shut out negative circumstances and discomfort and then move upstream towards our goals.

5) These companies and individuals operate out of faith. Without faith it is impossible to take risk. Without faith it is impossible to make investments of time and effort in the present hoping for a future reward. And without faith it is impossible to make short-term sacrifices on a consistent basis. Faith allows you to be free to give and be your best, knowing that the reward will manifest itself sometime in the future. Faith also allows you to find the opportunity that often comes disguised in the form of a problem or challenge. While others are “missing it” or spending their time and energy complaining, the person/company of faith is identifying and seizing new opportunities.

Question - how do you rate yourself in these five areas above? I would estimate much of where you find yourself today could be directly related to how well you have fared the past few years in regards to the five points above. The good news is today is a new day, a new opportunity.

Now is your time, the time to work on yourself, your relationships, your business, etc., and then to attract all the success outcomes you deserve. While you are creating the new you, look at every challenge you might be facing as an opportunity to “create” new and better outcomes.

Life is full of opportunities. Go For It!

Carpe diem,

Kyle
